Barco Verde Hostel

We are happy to welcome to Barco Verde, our cosy hostel in Holbox .

Located between Punta Coco and Punta Mosquito, one block from the beach and five minutes from the main square, it is a good starting point to go explore the beauty of the island, enjoy the sunset and if you are lucky you might see the dolphins from the shore, keep your eyes open !

About the property :

We are a family size hostel, with 6 spacious rooms that we designed to fulfill our guests' needs : All include A/C ( only during the night) , wifi, fan, private bathroom and hot showers.

- 4 dorms for 4 to 5 people, beds with curtains for more privacy, plug to charge your phone and lockers.

- 2 private rooms, with 2 double beds that can fit up to 4 people.

We have a common area where you can relax in the hammock, read a book or work from your computer thanks to our high speed internet (Starlink).

Are you a digital nomad ? Ask for our weekly or monthly package.

Our services :

During the evening we also organise family dinners, sign up at the recepcion.
We have acces to the shared kitchen from 8am to 3pm. We provide drinking water, cutlery, plates, bowls, hot water and you have access to the fridge to keep your food.
We offer laundry service.

What to do in Holbox ?

Join us and meet new friends during our activities : movie night, watch the sunset on our favourite beach, keep fit with physical activities or go see the amazing phenomenon called bioluminescence.

We also offer tours and ensure you will have the best experience for :

- Whale Shark Watching, swim with the biggest fish in the world from mid May to mid September, adrenaline guaranteed !
- Discover Holbox and the surrounding by boat with our 3 Islands tour, where you might see pink flamingos, swim in fresh water of the Cenote Yalahau and lagoon.
- Let's go Fishing and Snorkeling with our tour to Cabo Catoche, where you can see tropical fishes, turtles, manta rays and enjoy the fresh ceviche on a pristine beach.
- Nature lover? Discover the treasure of the island kayaking in the mangroves, see the crocodiles and wild birds in their natural habitat.


Our honest advices and recommendation about Holbox:

Money : Get cash before coming on the island
There are only 2 ATMs on the island and they are often out of order especially during high season and weekends. Cards are accepted to most places WHEN internet is working, so better be prepared before coming. You can also change USD or EUR on the island.

Weather : don't believe Google
Holbox has mostly 2 seasons:
- the dry season . From February to June the weather is generally hot and there is few rain.

- the rainy season : according to google, it is raining everyday in the year . The reality: the weather is hard to predict and changing quickly. It might be raining on one side of the island and not on the other.

Usually, mornings are sunny and in the afternoon you might get a free shower that doesn't last long. Holbox doesn't have paved roads but only sand, so the street might get muddy... and the mosquitos might eat you alive. You can buy repellent on the island.


Internet/Phone :
The phone and internet coverage is generally bad in Holbox compared to cities like Cancun or Tulum. The only phone networks working on the island are AT&T and Telcel. You can buy chip and refill your credit on the island.
3G is working on the island but there are often cuts.


Barco Verde Hostel Policy and Condition:
Cancellation Policy: 48h before arrival. In case of a late cancellation or No Show, you will be charged the first night of your stay.
Check in from: 15.00 to 22.00
Check out : 11.00am - We can store your luggage at the reception and you can keep enjoying the day on the island. You can also use our showers and facilities.

Payment upon arrival by cash, card (+5%) and paypal.
Taxes included.
Breakfast not included.
General: AC is turned on from 10:00 pm to 8:00 am and for siesta time 2pm to 4pm.
Reception from 08.00 to 22.00.
No curfew.
Pets are not allowed.
Passport or identification is required for registration.
Communal kitchen open from 8 to 3pm .
50 MXN deposit required for the room key and towel ( if available)
