An auberge translates as an inn and ours is situated in a 1875 warehouse, which we restored and rejuvenated. The basic attributes and rich textures of the old city building: the rock walls, the old hardwood floors, the arched windows and high ceilings.
The Auberge Alternative is an budget boutique hostel. The art of travelling moves us through internal as well as external landscapes and often a creative urge demands to link the two. The Auberge Alternative is an eco-friendly and artsy hostel providing accommodation and resources to travellers and artists alike to join us in redefining bohemia. Welcome to the Alternative.

It is a super nice hostel in the old port of Montréal, close to metro and supermarkets, bars. Easy to get everywhere and the staff is probably the kindest I have ever experienced in a hostel! Dorm bed is good aswell and I met some great people even though I was spectical in the beginning due to the fact that most of the guest are a bit older than I expected.

Great hostel, actually one of the cleanest I have come across, fantastic location, very nice atmosphere, very well-orgnised, friendly staff. Only downsides: tiny rooms with very little space and broken window; rental bike came without light and lock and was rather crappy but only $20 per day, though.
I would definitely recommend this lovely hostel!

Positive:
-very friendly and helpful staff
-blackboard with activities and whats going on in Montreal
-the location is absolutely perfect, oldtown and river only a 5 min walk
-well organised, check-in and check-out super easy and fast
negative:
absolutely nothing, great hostel and great atmosphere in common room! Highly recommend!
